Barrie Kennel & Obedience Club
The BARRIE KENNEL AND OBEDIENCE CLUB, INC. (BKOC) offers show handling classes on a regular basis. During these sessions, the novice handler learns the basics of working with his/her own dog in the events.
BKOC is committed to promoting Responsible Dog Ownership (RDOG) in the community and provides a variety of programs to facilitate this goal.
As part of the Club's educational mandate, members participate in independent public displays and special events. Currently, the Club is active in the opposition of Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) as contained in the Ontario Government's Bill 132 which was passed in 2005.
From time to time, the Club sponsors seminars and clinics regarding various genetic diseases such as eye and blood disorders.
The Club continues to support up-and-coming Junior Handlers across the province in a variety of ways. We offer Junior Handling competitions all 3 days of the Annual Dog Show which takes place on the Civic Holiday weekend in August.
