Club Member Bio - Elizabeth Numbers - Hausenbrook Dobermans
I was born to dog-loving parents and spent my formative years learning the pitfalls of having a kennel with them.  Our first breed was German Shepherds.  Naturally my parents wanted a German-inspired name so they registered the kennel name Hausenbrook and their foundation bitch was brought home from Germany (Dad was in the army).  Later, Shetland Sheepdogs were added and became our main breed.

For my eighth birthday I wanted my own Sheltie.  Flame earned her Championship under my mother and her CD under training and trialing by myself.  By sixteen, I missed having a larger dog so bought my first Doberman.  It didn't take much to convince my parents to let me get one, and then two.  I think they were just pleasantly surprised that I hadn't asked for a Newfie.

As life always takes its turns, I went off to university and my parents eventually were sent to the Middle East, so our family got out of dogs.  However, my love of dogs never diminished and I quickly became popular with my friends who had dogs because I was an automatic walker/playmate for their dogs.

I now teach elementary school full-time and this has allowed me to return to my passion for dogs.  I currently own 5 Dobermans.  The eldest was owner-handled to her Championship and I am now have conformation titles on 3 of her offspring.  I hope to put working titles on them in the future.  I am thoroughly addicted to dog shows, attending as many as I can.  I enjoy this opportunity to meet new people and see a lot of different and spectacular dogs.

I am currently the Vice-President for the Barrie Kennel & Obedience Club, after spending the last 5 years as the Club Secretary.  I am actively involved in the Show Committee and have taken on re-establishing obedience classes for the club.

I am also the Junior Handling Coordinator and Director with the Greater Mid-Ontario Doberman Fanciers and am a member in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club and the Doberman Pinscher Club of Canada.  I am in my second year as the CKC Junior Handling Representative for Zone 4A.   I was reluctant at first to become involved with Junior handling, but have found the experience rewarding and enjoy working with the young handlers.

I look forward to many years actively participating in the world of purebred dogs.
